The National Rink Hockey Association advises that it is following the Covid-19 (coronavirus) situation on an ongoing basis, closely monitoring the advice from health and government agencies, and is the Association policy is to follow the direction of the UK Government going forward.
We ask that our members and participants to also keep up-to-speed with the latest information via the following links:
Currently the Government-issued advice for the sports sector, includes:
    • "That there is presently no rationale to close or cancel sporting events, but this may change as the situation evolves”
    • "Anyone with flu-symptoms should avoid the risk of spreading their infection, whatever that infection may be, by staying at home and recovering"
    •  "For those hosting sporting events, whatever their size, attendees and participants should stay up to date on the government’s latest advice on how to avoid catching or spreading the virus, which is here."
    • "As the situation progresses, we might advise the frail, elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions (to be defined) to stay away from gatherings as part of general advice aimed at minimising unnecessary contact with others"
    • "For those travelling to sporting events overseas, the Foreign Office’s travel advice should be followed and travellers should note that apart from the countries and territories named in that advice, the government is not presently advising against travel to anywhere else"
    • "There is presently no reason people should stop doing their daily sport and physical activities as they normally would"
Accordingly, from this weekend we recommend that players refrain from shaking hands with the officials or each other before or after the game. In pre and post-game it will be acceptable for the teams to exchange gloved ‘fist-bump’ in lieu of the traditional handshake.
We also ask everyone to take care of their health and protect others by doing the following:
    • Wash your hands frequently and regularly
    • Refrain from unnecessary contact, if possible – e.g. shaking hands and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
    • If you experience any symptoms, e.g., difficulty breathing, cough and fever, seek medical advice from NHS 111. Don’t return to action until you are given the all-clear.
    • Throw away any tissue after use, to prevent contamination – ‘Catch It, Bin It, Kill It’
    • Don’t share drinks from the same bottle or glass
    • Clean and disinfect your equipment
    • Implement good hygiene, thus mitigating your risk of catching the virus
The health of participants and fans of the sport is of great importance the association and we shall continue to monitor the Covid-19 (coronavirus) situation, and provide further update if the condition worsens or if there is any government action affecting sport.
