COVID-19 Update

02 Dec 2020

In update to the yesterday’s approval of new Covid-19 restrictions by the UK Parliament, the National Executive Committee has, in consultation with specific guidance from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the British Roller Sports Association, determined to continue with the already published guidelines - Click here to download the Covid-19 Guidelines – with the following clarifications effective immediately;

Under 18’s

Where only players under the age of 18 years are in attendance, normal training sessions may be conducted when the area is in Tier 1, 2 or 3.

Over 18’s

Where any player over the age of 18 years is in attendance, these sessions must be restricted to;

  • Groups of no more than 6 players.
  • Where more than one (1) Group trains;
    • The rink must be separated across its width with cones or similar, into defined 'Zones' with a gap between 'Zones' of at least 6 meters. i.e. Cones should be put 3 metres either side of the halfway line.
    • Groups may not mix and must use separate access and exit points.
    • Only Coaching staff may cross between Zones or locate themselves between the Zones.
  • In the following Tiers, these additional restrictions apply;
    • Tier 1 (Medium Alert)
      • Training may occur per above in the Groups of 6.
    • Tier 2 (High Alert)
      • Training may occur per above in the Groups of 6, only if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with).
    • Tier 3 (Very High Alert)
      • Training must not occur.

Clubs are reminded that the precautions set forth by the association must be observed, including;

  • The organiser of any training must lodge with the association:
    • The NRHA Risk Assessment document (submitted once only).
    • A Training Consent Form for each player attending any training (submitted once only).
    • The completed online Attendance Register, identifying each participating player and the entire coaching staff (within 24 hours of each training).
  • Every attendee (players and coaching staff) must be registered with the association in order to train (this ensures that all attending are covered by the association insurances).
  • No member of the Coaching staff may wear skates and/or make physical contact with any player.

Please note that to ensure compliance with the guidelines, this clarification and the health and safety of all, the association shall be undertaking random checks of training sessions and any breach will result in the following mandatory sanctions:

  • First breach: Club will be fined £250, with the Coach in charge of the session being suspended from any coaching, including training or matches, for a period of not less than six (6) months.
  • Further breach: Club will be fined £500 and suspended from all competition and training for a period of 12 months, with the Coach in charge of the session being suspended from any coaching, including training or matches, for a period of not less than twelve (12) months.

National Development Training

In order to ensure accessibility of training, the association, in cooperation with Regions, shall continue to conduct National Development Training within each region, on a monthly basis, for players under the age of 18 years only, with players restricted to attending only training within their region.

The National Executive Committee appreciates that the Covid-19 restrictions can be challenging, but necessary. So if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I shall do my best to help you.

Regards,

Kos Galtos

President
