National Coaching Director

National Coaching Director – Carlos Amaral

I started playing Roller Hockey when I was 5 years old in 1962, as my Father was a player and encouraged me to play the sport. As a player one of my main characteristics was my skating ability, which aligned with my fitness, made me a very competitive player. I was frequently the top scorer in my clubs and often in the National leagues. During my Senior playing career I was involved with both Barcelos and Viana clubs when we were promoted to the Premier League and became more professional.

When I was 28 I completed the National coaching course and I decided to concentrate on my coaching career. As a Coach today, I am very pleased that I have been involved in all different levels of coaching, including National teams with Portugal – one of the best National teams in the world and with England who have great potential that I am motivated to develop.
